I keep seeing comments on how Ellen is criticizing people who are a size zero but I don’t think she is. The way I understand it is she is commenting in the sizing system in general. Zero does mean nothing in mathematics and if we see it in that way, than 00 should really be -1 if we are going smaller than zero cause two zeroes together is still just zero. And what even is a negative waistline? When you put a measuring tape around your body, the inches or centimeters don’t go into the negatives. Perhaps sizing should start at size 1 and go up. But also remember all clothes fit differently, even in the same store. Size is not consistent.

The character in Claire Messud’s new novel The Woman Upstairs who says: “The age of 37 [is] the time at which you have to acknowledge once and for all thatâ¦ you’ll probably never be president, or a millionaireâ¦” Realising that I am one of those women who would just like Marks & Spencer to stick to sensible clothes made of natural fibres and stop trying to do fashion. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this phrase. Why don’t you try to get a job in today’s economy? O that’s right, you’re all secure with your benefits and pension and cushy job meanwhile when I want to retire, if I can considering how hard it is to establish yourself in the workforce, there probably won’t be any money left over for my generation. Privatization is where things seem to be going. Plus not many places pay benefits anymore. You do contract work. I just….society sometimes.
